Tassia Lodge

Tassia - meaning the place of the swan warrior the place of the mokogodo maasai hunters. Tassia is an architectural and very beautifully designed lodge begun in the year 2000. Perched on a saddle hill rock kopje at the very base of mt Kenya in the Laikipia district and what is known as the warm country. The Lekerruki Conservancy surrounds Tassia. 60,000acres of wilderness, grazed by the Mokogodo Maasai cattle and camel and in balance with the migration of elephant that pass through and come to mate in December and the local animals. The Maasai villages are dotted around in the distance and there’s a balance between humanity and wildlife. Here you will be graced with opertunites to walk out on foot and see wildlife. It’s a whole different experience. Look out for Elephant, Giraffe, greater and lesser kudu, all the cats and the eagles catch the thermals above the ridge line. Semi arid landscapes dotted with steep dramatic hills, open blue skies, red earth and acacia. Learn the local medicinal purposes and plant names. Gather some history and bush skills. Throw a spear and shoot a bows and arrows as the sun sets warm, dusty and fulfilled . Tassia lodge has 6 blissful rooms. We cater to about 16px 6doubles and extra singles. All rooms Have en-suite bathrooms with showers m. Each room comes with hot running water all comforts and softs Mosquito nets, repelents and sanitiser. Bathroom essentials and a bottle of Sparkeling wine for a honeymoon couple. The Lounge dining and bar sits dramatically on a steep rock overlooking the waterhole graced by all the local animals and birds and the migratory ones too. Sit in the deck in luxury and comfort with a glass in hand and watch peacefully as Africa unfoldes before your eyes. There’s a bar serving beers and wines all full board. A blissful infinity pool and deck below the dining area and a flat rooftop to dine out under the Africa skies or dine out on the rock under the flame tree with a dazzling warm fire. Sometimes the community can do a dance over dinner around a roaring fire and when you retire the sounds of Africa the leopard or the distant call of lion will lull you to sleep after a great dinner Of tapas and Moroccan influenced cuisine. Wake up to golden sunshine rippled over crisp white bedding, a wake up call and a great cup of tea/coffee and step out on foot or by vehicle to read the wild ‘visitors book’ and encounter what the day has to offer.
